Aura

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 24, 2026

In short: Aura does not collect, store, sell or send any personal data. Everything happens locally in your browser. There are no accounts, no analytics and no trackers.

1. What the extension does

Aura reads the colors of the YouTube video you are watching to draw an ambient glow around it, detect black bars and tint the Firefox toolbar. This analysis is done in real time, inside your browser, on tiny low-resolution samples. Frames are never saved, recorded or sent anywhere.

2. Data we collect

None. Aura does not collect your browsing history, the videos you watch, your IP address, or any other personal information. Aura makes no network requests to any server.

3. Data stored on your device

Your Aura settings (for example glow intensity, blur or which features are on) are saved with Firefox's local extension storage (storage), only on your device. You can delete them at any time by removing the extension.

4. Permissions

5. Music Visualizer

The optional Music Visualizer (off by default) analyzes the audio of the video you are already playing, locally, with the Web Audio API. It does not use your microphone, and no audio is recorded or sent anywhere.

6. Donations

The "Donate with PayPal" button simply opens PayPal in a new tab. Aura does not process payments and receives no data from it. Any donation is handled entirely by PayPal under PayPal's privacy policy.

7. This website

This website has no cookies, analytics or trackers. It is hosted on Netlify, which may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security, and it loads the Inter font from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the font loads. Please see their respective privacy policies for details.

8. Children

Aura collects no data from anyone, including children.

9. Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
